GRANT ELIGIBILITY & EVALUATION CRITERIA

The KUHLE FAMILY FOUNDATION grants to non-profit organizations qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and to selected public sector activities.

The majority of grants are made to organizations in areas where voting members of the Foundation reside. These currently include Arizona, Utah and Southern California.

We make funding decisions based on careful review of an organization’s strategies and effectiveness, leadership and financial position. Our funding is intended to strengthen organizations, often through unrestricted support, and to improve their chances of making a measurable difference. The organization’s strategy and goals must align with the KUHLE FAMILY FOUNDATION’S mission.

The Foundation’s grantmaking spans several areas of interest, clustered around the following categories:

  • Education

  • Career

  • Arts & Culture

  • Health & Social Services

The KFF Board of Directors typically prefers:

  • Gifts to benefit children & youth between the ages of 0-18 years old

  • Gifts within the $25k-$50k range, however, is willing to consider requests outside those margins

  • No multi-year commitments

  • Organizations with a small operating budget

  • Supporting programs vs. “brick and mortar” requests (capital campaign requests). However, is interested in supporting “capital needs” such as books and supplies needed for schools.

We often ask grantees to submit a report at the end of the project period, and sometimes during the active grant period. These reports help us learn more about the good work grant recipients are doing, measure impact and improve services.
